Milestone reached: UL approval for our switchgear for North America’s largest slag vertical mill

Together with our long-term mechanical engineering partner, we have successfully planned, manufactured and approved the electrical equipment of what is currently the largest slag vertical mill in North America for our American end customer OZINGA in accordance with the requirements of the American UL standards.

The official UL approval by an external inspector marks a major milestone in the project: the electrical equipment has been comprehensively tested and fulfils the strict requirements of the North American UL standards in all respects.

A central element was the planning and design of the Siemens medium-voltage system for the powerful mill drives. KIMA's MVIC (Medium Voltage Interface Cabinet) was used again - our interface manager between medium voltage and the process control system and a decisive component for maximum personal, plant and process safety.

We also realised the complete control technology. From control and field cabinets, including local control points tailored to the requirements of the mill, material feed and removal, through to the EPLAN circuit diagram documentation - fully standardised in accordance with applicable US guidelines.

The switchgear is currently on its way to the USA. Production is scheduled to start in the second half of 2026. Ozinga's goal is to be CO2 neutral by 2030.

Customised and norm-compliant engineering - made by KIMA.
