Successful commissioning in record time: 390t/h vertical mill in West Africa

KIMA has successfully completed a challenging project in West Africa, impressively showing that efficiency and quality can go hand in hand. We commissioned a 390t/h vertical mill in just 30 working days - a remarkable team achievement!

Everything from a single source - from engineering to plant operation

Our scope of delivery covered the complete energy and automation technology. Starting with a 30kV medium-voltage switchgear with a 15MVA power transformer and a further 6kV medium-voltage switchgear with 9 cabinets, we provided the entire electrical infrastructure. This also included low-voltage transformers, 21 motor control cabinets (MCCs) and I/O cabinets as well as a modern process control system based on PCS7.

Comprehensive engineering and customized automation

Our engineering team was responsible for the design and implementation of the 30kV, 6kV and 400V systems. In addition to the electrical engineering planning, this also included the implementation of safety concepts, control systems and the entire network architecture. The in-house developed PCS7 software application was simulated, tested and approved for operation in an intensive Software Factory Acceptance Test (FAT).

Challenge accepted - successful commissioning in just 30 days.

We are particularly proud of the efficient and fast commissioning. In just 30 working days, we supervised the complete start-up of the plant and produced the first cement together with our customer. This was only possible thanks to the close cooperation of our colleagues on and off the construction site.

Impressive figures - an impressive cement plant

The dimensions of the plant are impressive: over 500 drive units, more than 300 analog measuring points and over 160 valves were integrated and put into operation. With a state-of-the-art packing system and fully automated dispatch automation, the system is highly automated and equipped for the future.
