State-of-the-art plant technology for two glass melting furnaces in the nuclear sector

Two new power supply systems for a nuclear vitrification plant in Asia demonstrate the high-precision technology required for the safe final disposal of highly radioactive waste.

For each system, our delivery includes a comprehensive, custom-designed system consisting of control cabinets and components—such as 90 kVA toroidal transformers and encapsulated busbar systems—that are specifically designed for the operation of an electrically heated ceramic glass melting furnace.

The factory acceptance tests (FAT and HWT) we successfully conducted include, among other things, demanding asymmetric load tests using a two-pole 90-kW load bank in our test facility, which was specially prepared for this purpose. Control cabinets and transformers were connected using pre-assembled and properly cut cables, which will also be reused on-site.

At the customer's specific request, the control cabinets were equipped with an HMI panel as well as additional pushbuttons and indicator lights to ensure enhanced safety and control of the system.

All plant components were packed in a seaworthy manner for overseas transport.
