State-of-the-art plant technology for two glass melting furnaces in the nuclear sector

Delivery of two power supply systems: one for a glass melting furnace without radioactive materials for testing purposes, and one for a glass melting furnace in the nuclear sector.

Our scope of supply includes a total of 12 toroidal transformers, 12 output cabinets for operating the toroidal transformers and the downstream electrode pairs in the glass melting furnace, as well as two PLC cabinets, two PSC cabinets, and two transfer cabinets each.

The HWT and FAT for both systems, as well as the unbalanced load tests (90 kW) on the toroidal transformers using a 2-pole load bank, were conducted at KIMA.

Operating and monitoring system:

  • Programming and visualization of the Unified Touchpanel using TIA

Noteworthy aspects:

  • Switchgear for secondary-side phase switching (connected to the secondary side of the transformers)
  • The control cabinets we manufactured were equipped with Rittal earthquake kits
  • Delivery of a cast busbar system
